about
Picking up where the award-winning Alive in the Fall album left off, the.broken.headphones, dives deeper into the hopes and anxieties a leap of faith can bring. Where "California" (the opening track of Alive) is categorized by a youthful optimism, "Afterfall" finds Jason back in Athens, GA where the story began, three years into a pursuit that changed the very course of his life. Always honest, the.broken.headphones' tone is at times beautiful and poignant, weary and doubtful. It is an authentic milemarker for an introspective musical journey whose ending is still very much unclear.
From the upbeat rock of "Midnight" to the travel-weary "Questions," the.broken.headphones - richly produced by James Gregory and Micah Dalton, and mixed by Alive in the Fall engineer Chris Greely - moves across miles of musical landscape, arriving finally at what matters most - that which is front of us. Jason reminds himself and others in "Nothing Gold Can Stay" and "Flowers" of the importance of the "right now" while keeping a hopeful eye on the future with the prayer that things will get better.
If you liked Alive in the Fall, then you can't be without the.broken.headphones.
