about

Somewhere in August, Jason realized that a Christmas card didn't have to just be a card, and looking around at the various recording things he'd accumulated, the idea for some sort of "Harwell family Christmas" recording was born.

More songs were started than were finished, but the three that made it are our favorites. In particular, 'Silent Night' was fun to do as a one-take, live-on-the-floor tune with a solo guitar, keeping with the song's history - it was written and performed as a duet with a single guitar after the organ at the newly built - and appropriately named - Church of St. Nicholas in Oberndorf, Austria broke down on Christmas Eve, 1818. Jana has never sang on any of Jason's recordings before, though none of us are quite sure why.

The fourth track is one of Jason's favorite sermons from our church (Classic City Community Church) from December 12, 2008. We hope you enjoy the tunes, and we wish you a most Merry Christmas!

Good tidings of great joy!

released December 12, 2010

Recorded mostly at the Harwell home, with other little bits and pieces recorded at the Warm Fuzzies' practice space. The kazoo parts on 'Jingle Bells' were recorded at Jason's parents' house on Thanksgiving and features Madison, Jack, and Jessica Harwell.

Everything else was done by Jana and Jason... and the unsinkable Molly Frances Harwell. Look for Sam on next year's edition; we had some creative differences that we should have worked out by then.
