about

In honor of the nuptials of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Daniel, I wrote this tune to Meghan from Al. No, he didn't ask me to. Yes, that's kind of a forward thing to do.

Alan Daniel is one of my favorite people in the entire world.

lyrics

The ring on your hand
Says that I am
The man for you
Since I'm gonna betroth you
I should have told you the truth
That after these flowers
And these showers all end
You're probably gonna realize
That you'll never be free from me again

I hope you said farewell
To the single life
I'll be your only boy
You are my single wife
And even when we're old and gray
And all my hair is gone
You'll never make a trade
You and I are glued together
You're stuck with me forever

I can't help but wonder
If you've thought this through
Right now I'm sexy
But in a year or two...
What if my heart tells me
"Go buy elastic-waist pants?"
Are you willing to risk it when
you'll never be free from me again?

I hope you said farewell
To the single life
I'll be your only boy
You are my single wife
And even when we're old and gray
And all my hair is gone
You're not allowed to make a trade
You and I are glued together
You're stuck with me forever

Love ain't no department store
No takebacks, no returns no more
I've been waiting for this day
Forever
After you have seen my moves
At the reception
You will likely understand
That from this day forth
For better and for worse
(And it might get worse)
I'm afraid the way we're glued together
You are stuck with me forever

Don't be surprised
'Cause you've been warned
That as the days go by
I'm only gonna love you more
And if we have some kids
They'll probably look like me
You'll see the way they dance
You'll know the best thing ever
Is being stuck with me forever

To have and to hold
For rich and for poor
For better and for worse
From this day forth
Through the thick and thin
Through the jobs and the kids
We'll be glad that we did
From this day forth
To have and to hold
For rich and for poor
For better and for worse
From this day forth
Through the good and the bad
Through the great and the sad
Oh the times we will have
From this day forth!
